1. Scholarship Values

Established in 2012, China University of Petroleum (East China) New Student Scholarship Program provides the following scholarships for 40 international students to pursue their master’s and doctoral degree studies at UPC.

Note:

Students that choose to live off campus will not receive any accommodation subsidy from the university.

2. Study Programs

3. Criteria & Eligibility

(1)       Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.

(2)       Master’s applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35; Doctoral applicants must have a Master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

4. Application Duration: From May 1 to July 1.

5. Application Procedures

(1)       Register at the China University of Petroleum International Student Online Application System (https://upc.17gz.org/member/login.do), select “University Scholarship Program”, complete online application information, upload application documents and submit it.

(2)       Admitted students should wait for the Admission Notice and the Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent by DHL. The address and contact information of DHL should be provided to the Admissions Office at the time of application.

(3)       Successful candidates should apply to the Chinese Embassy/Consulate for a Student Visa (X1-Visa) with the Admission Notice and JW202, and register at UPC in due time.Note:Receiving the scholarship and admission result from our university, admitted scholarship students are required to pay a room deposit of CNY 1000 in due time to the accommodation reception of the College of International Education. International student dorm rooms will be reserved from July till the new student registration deadline. The room deposit will be returned upon check-out. The university will not refund the room deposit when new students do not register for enrollment and scholarship for any reasons.

PhD

1.         Passport with a validity of a minimum of 12 months.

2.         Highest Diploma/Degree and transcripts (in English/Chinese). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations. Prospective diploma winners must submit an official document issued by current schools to state the current student status and the expected graduation date.

3.         Language proficiency certificate (Chinese-instructed applicants must provide HSK-6; English-instructed applicants must provide TOEFL iBT 80 or above/IELTS 6.0 or above/certificate of English as the instruction language during previous studies)

4.         Research Proposal/Study Plan (at least 1,500 words in English/Chinese).

5.         Two Recommendation Letters from professors/associate professors in English/Chinese.

6.         Acceptance letter of China University of Petroleum supervisors in Chinese or English (no format requirement)

7.         Current working/employment certificate or non-criminal record. It is required for applicants that graduated over 12 months.

Foreigner Physical Examination Form (not required for scholarship application but required for visa application in Chinese embassy/consulate).
